Services for arts enthusiast Judy Carroll Belcher, 46, who died on Sept. 6 while traveling in Aruba, are set for 11 a.m. Sept. 25 at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. Judy Carroll graduated from the University of Science and Arts in 1986, taught on the adjunct faculty for several years here, and returned to Chickasha last month to assist with the community theater production of Once Upon a Mattress. She had been ill for some time. Belcher was born Jan. 28, 1964. She graduated from Moore High School in 1982 and received a bachelor’s degree in communication from USAO, followed by a master’s in fine arts in theater from the University of Arkansas. She was actively involved in college and community theater throughout her life. She acted in, directed and worked backstage with theater companies around the state, including Chickasha Community Theatre, Jewel Box and Broken Arrow Community Playhouse. After receiving her MFA, she taught speech and theater at East Central Community College in Decatur, Miss., for seven years. She moved to Tulsa and worked first as an assistant before becoming manager of Clark Youth Theater. For the last seven years, she has resided in Oklahoma City. She is survived by her husband Morgan Belcher; mother, Mary Carroll; sisters Margaret Johnson and Bridget Fisher; and brothers Ray and Wayne Carroll. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the ASPCA or the Humane Society.
