BIBLE, Myrtle O. (Moyer)
Funeral for Myrtle Orpha Bible, 100, Cyril, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Cyril Church of Christ with Adrian Smith officiating. She died Monday, June 28, 2010, in Chickasha. Burial will be in Celestial Gardens Cemetery, Cyril, under direction of McRay's Cyril Funeral Home. Myrtle Orpha was born Nov. 23, 1909, in Eureka, Kan., the daughter of John Calvin Moyer and Lillie Drusella Cockrell Moyer. When Myrtle was a child, she left Kansas and moved to Texas for two years then moved to Rush Springs. When she was about five, she moved to Alex, where she attended school and graduated from Alex High School in 1926. She attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, receiving a one year teaching certificate. Myrtle taught one year at Pleasant View School south of Alex. She went to Central State Teachers College in Edmond and received a lifetime elementary teaching certificate in 1929. She taught school in Alex for five years. While teaching at Alex, she met and married Virgil Bible on Oct. 1, 1933. She was a member of the Cyril Church of Christ. Survivors include five nieces: Louise London, of Apache; Barbara Waldo, and Jean Reutlinger, both of Vista, Calif.; and June Sharwood and Doris Shaw, both of Edmond; five nephews: Jim Neil, of Dallas; Ronald Barlow, Chula Vista, Calif.; Don Ross, of Norman; Gary Ross, of Wayne; and Dale Armstrong, of Dallas. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillie Moyer; husband, Virgil B. Bible; three brothers; three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
