BOZALIS, Ruth (Russell)

Ruth Russell Bozalis was born in McAlester, Oklahoma, September 16, 1911, to Beulah Givens Russell and Fred C. Russell, who made the run into Oklahoma in 1889. She died on September 17, 2009, the day after her 98th birthday. She and her mother moved to Oklahoma City in 1917. Ruth graduated from Classen High School and Oklahoma College for Women, now University Science and Arts of Oklahoma. Ruth was married to Dr. George S. Bozalis, and they had three children, Mary Ann, John and Bill. During their 58 years of marriage, they enjoyed worldwide travels. After her husband's death, she married her high school sweetheart, William W. Warren Jr. (Bill). They were married for 31/2 years until his death. Ruth's interests in her community were shown by her support of the Oklahoma Philharmonic, Lyric Theater and Myriad Gardens. She was a former President of Oklahoma County Medical Society Alliance, Life Member of Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Oklahoma Zoological Society, Science Museum of Oklahoma, National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, where she was a former Docent. She was also a member of the Gaylord-Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Museum, Oklahoma Art League, 50-year member of Chapter AC of PEO, Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club, Petroleum Club, Thursday Book Club, Queensbury Club, Active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and an endowed member of the OU Associates. Mama B, as she was affectionately known to everyone, was outgoing and vivacious. The pace at which she lived life was amazing. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, who always put family first. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Eula Russell Crowe; brother, Clyde R. Russell; brother-in-law, John Bozalis; and nephew, Admiral William J. Crowe, Jr. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Haskins, and husband, Dr. Don Haskins; son, Dr. John R. Bozalis, and wife, Sharon; son, Dr. William (Bill) G. Bozalis, and wife, Donna; 8 grandchildren: Laura Haskins Beagles and husband, Vance; William (Bill) Haskins, and wife, Heather; John R. Bozalis Jr. and wife, Lynn; David Bozalis and wife, Theresa; Diana Bozalis Rodgers and husband, Trip; Elizabeth (Lisa) Bozalis; William (Billy) G. Bozalis, Jr.; Andrew (Drew) Bozalis; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nell Bozalis; Shirley Crowe; stepsons: William W. Warren, III and wife, Tonia; Dr. Richard Warren and good friend, Harry Schwartz. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Monday, September 21, 2009, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4400 N.
