CANNELLA, Louise V. (Perkins)
Cannella, Louise V.” Louise V. Cannella, 96, Green Bay, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at a local nursing home. She was born Nov. 4, 1911, in Oklahoma City, to the late Jay and Mabel (Woods) Perkins. She was a graduate of Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Okla. While in college, she worked for the Southwestern Oklahoma Electric Company. Prior to marriage, Louise was a supervisor for the Oklahoma State Capital Bond Department in Oklahoma City. She later worked for the Department of Education in Oklahoma with the Central Accreditation Association in Edmond, Okla., under Governor Kerr. Louise was an avid supporter of the U.S. troops in the European Theatre during World War II in which her fiancé, Louis, J. Cannella, Sr., served. Louis and Louise were married on Oct. 26, 1945, in Abilene, Texas, and then moved to Benton Harbor, Mich., where she was the Paymaster for Modern Plastics/Whirlpool Corp. Later, Louise became an elementary school teacher serving the Fair Plain Public Schools in the community for 16 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church and served as President of the Christian Women's Fellowship. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Louis J. Cannella, Jr., Menominee, Mich., Dr. Nicholas K. (Karen) Cannella, Oneida; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Merle Perkins; and her sister, Nellie Jo McIntosh. Friends may call at Highland Crest Baptist Church, 1830 S. Military Ave., from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Jim Downs officiating.
