CASEY, Shirley (Rusk)

Casey, Shirley (Rusk) passed from this life on April 28, 2008, at St. John Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 78 years. Shirley was born August 18, 1929, in Ralston, OK to Walt and Iva (Capps) Rusk. At the age of 4 months her family moved to Oklahoma City. Shirley attended Central High School in Oklahoma City and the Oklahoma College of Women. She was united in marriage to 2nd Lt. James M. Casey on November 10, 1951, in Fairview Baptist Church near Dadeville, MO. He survives her. After raising her 4 children to college age, Shirley completed her bachelor's degree in finance at the University of South Carolina. She worked for Close Bend Inc. in administration. She volunteered for the Bureau of Land Management in Tulsa and became an employee. Shirley and family lived in 8 states in the United States and 1 trip to Turkey while Jim was in the Air Force. After she and Jim retired, they traveled to many places. Shirley served as elder in her church, John Calvin Presbyterian in Tulsa. She volunteered for the Red Cross when her children were young, and the IRS as a volunteer income tax preparer after she retired. She is survived by: her husband of 56 years, Jim Casey; 1 son, Larry of Coral Springs, FL; daughters, Jama Raubach and husband Gerry, Lacinda Keilbarth and husband Dennis, both of Tulsa, and Marcina Lee and husband Robert of Milledgeville, GA; 1 sister, Clara Walte Bowman and husband, Robert of Tulsa; 1 niece; 2 nephews; and 12 grandchildren. Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2008, at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 8181 E 31st Street, Tulsa. Interment is at Floral Haven.
