Mary Penoi Conover died on December 5, 2009 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born on July 7, 1934 in Bartles-ville, OK to William and Una Penoi Conover. She is survived by two sisters: Una Jo Teter and her husband, Philip; Mildred Watson and her husband, Ben; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Stella Craft, all of whom will miss her loving calmness. Mary was preceded in death by her brother, William, Jr.; one sister, Shirley Gael Weiss. After graduation from Oklahoma College for Women (the last of four sisters to do so), Mary worked for 35 years at McBride's Bone and Joint Clinic as a radiology technician. She had a long involvement with the Girl Scouts, starting with Brownies and continuing through being a camp counselor, troop leader, board member of the Redlands Council and Alumnae Association. Mary was an enthusiastic tourist/traveler. She traveled extensively, particularly with the Oklahoma Retired Citizens Travel Club. She usually had her hands busy with various crafts -- needlework of many kinds, wood carving, and stained glass. Mary was a deacon of Westminster Presbyterian Church, a member of the Martha Circle, and made countless baby blankets for the church's mission project. Memorials may be made in her name to Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma, 121 N.E. 50th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73105, or Alumni Association, Class of '56, University of Science and Arts (OCW), 1727 W. Alabama, Chickasha, OK 73018. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, OK, at 10:00 a.m.
