Carol Mae Jones Corley died Thursday, July 8, 2010 in Gulf Shores. She was born Jan. 30, 1922 in Perry, Noble County, Okla., to O.W. Jones and Marcia Dawson Jones. She was a graduate of Sentinel High School, Oklahoma College for Women and the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She taught in the Jefferson County school system for 16 years retiring in 1978. She relocated to Gulf Shores, and worked in retail sales for a number of years. She was a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Corley; and sister, Dorothy Maricle. Survivors include a daughter, July Kay Handley of Leeds; two sons, Paul Scott Corley and Alan Emory Corley of Gulf Shores; sister, Margie Nease of Lawton, Okla.; cousin, Pat Wimer of Albuquerque, N.M.; a number of nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to express their thanks to the employees of South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, Community Hospice of Foley and Dr. Tom Davidson who cared for her during her final illness. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 10 at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley. The family requests memorial donations be made to Community Hospice of Foley or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Pine Rest Funeral Home Inc., Foley.
