DARNELL, Joycle D. (Moorehead)

Funeral for former Apache resident Joycle Dee Darnell, 91, Las Vegas, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church, Apache. Mrs. Darnell died Sunday, April 20, 2008, in Las Vegas. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under direction of Crews Funeral Home, Apache. She was born Dec. 26, 1916, in Gracemont, to Walter and Ann Hickman Moorehead. She graduated from Cyril High School and received her degree in home economics from Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha. She married Jesse S. Darnell on Nov. 23, 1942, at Oklahoma City. He died Nov. 5, 1985. They moved to Detroit in 1946, where she was the head dietician for the Detroit Public School System. They moved back to Apache in 1979, and in 1998 she moved to California to help care for a great-granddaughter. She was a member of Apache First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law: Gary R. Darnell, Brighton, Mich.; and Jon G. and Sounia Darnell, Las Vegas; five grandchildren and their spouses: Jeff Darnell, New Jersey; Stacy and Brad Judd, California; Gene and Ann Darnell, Michigan; and Ian Darnell and Erin Darnell, both of Utah; a special great-grandchild, Megan Judd, of California; and many nieces and nephews.
