McALESTER — Phoebe Dawson, 90, formerly of McAlester, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, in Lakeland, Tenn.

Visitation will be Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ashland Cemetery, Ashland. Burial will be under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.

She was born in Ashland to Norman and Ethel (Harris) Norton. She graduated from Kiowa High School and attended the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma at Chickasha. She married Harry Dawson on Sept. 10, 1952, in McAlester. She taught art for 22 years to many students at Will Rogers Elementary School. She was lifetime member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Norma Walker and husband, Lee, of Lakeland, Tenn.; grandson, Cody Lee Walker, of Tampa, Fla., sister, Ruth Tolentino, of Merced, Calif., and nephews, R. Michael Yarbrough and Joseph Tolentino.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Ethel Norton; her husband, Harry Dawson of 46 years, and sister, Norma Yarbrough.
