DIVER, Roberta L. (Briscoe)
Diver, Roberta L. Roberta Lucille (Lucy) Briscoe Diver, 86, of Claremont, CA passed away Sunday June 10, 2007. She was born September 4, 1920 in Oklahoma City, OK to Saphrona and Richard Briscoe. During her childhood, Lucy liv ed on the Briscoe Family Sooner Farm near Mustang, Oklahoma. Lucy graduated from the Oklahoma College for Women in 1942. She served as a Service Club Director for the civil service at Ft. Belvoir, VA and Obersdorf, Germany. While serving in Germany, Lucy met and fell in love with Lt. Richard B. (Dick) Diver from Meyersdale, PA. They were married on October 23, 1948. Later they were stationed at military bases in Texas, New Mexico, Florida, Oklahoma, Alaska and Colorado, where Lucy supported her husband' s military career and raised three sons. After retirement, the couple lived in Tucson, AZ and moved to Upland, CA in 1973 where Dick worked for General Dynamics. While living in Upland, she was active in politics with the Chaffey Community Republican Women Federation. She was a member of the Upland Women's Club. Her community service included volunteer work with the Assistance League of Upland. Dick and Lucy were members of Faith Lutheran Church of Upland. After forty six years of marriage, her beloved hu sband, Dick, went to be with the Lord in February, 1995. Lucy then moved to Claremont Manor, living there for the last ten years. Lucy became a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Claremont. She is survived by sons Richard B. Diver, wife Barb of Alburquerque, NM, David C. Diver, wife Laurie of Flagstaff, AZ, and Fredrick A. Diver, wife Kathy of Upland, CA. Her grandchildren are Tracy and Kylie (Rich), Karen, Clinton, Matt and Brett (David) and Ashley and Austin (Fred). Lucy is also survived by her brothers, Louis W. Briscoe, Bernard K. Briscoe and Don L. Briscoe and their families, all of OK. Lucy loved spending time with her family, traveling the world and playing a good hand of Bridge. A memorial service will be celebrated Friday June 15, 2007 at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 1700 N. Towne Ave. Claremont, CA. Internment will later be made at the Riverside National Cemetery with her late husband, Dick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army.
