EVERS, Della M. (Gaddis)
Funeral for Della Mae Evers, 86, Lawton, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tom Willoughby, associate pastor, First Baptist Church, officiating. Mrs. Evers died Thursday, May 15, 2008, in a local hospital. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko. She was born Dec. 28, 1921, in Cement, to Samuel Marvin and Ella Mae Taylor Gaddis. She grew up in Anadarko and graduated from high school. She married Doyle Evers on June 27, 1942, in Anadarko. He died on July 9, 1986. She was a beautician. She received her bachelor of science degree from the Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts in Chickasha and her master's degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. She taught first grade at Sheridan Road Elementary School for 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Oklahoma Retired Teacher's Association. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Donna Evers, Lawton; and two granddaughters: Stacey Evers, Mustang; and Jennifer Holloway and her husband, Jake, Owasso. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Johnie Marvin Evers; seven brothers: Bill, Horton, Calvin, Capper, John, Jack and Jim Gaddis; and three sisters: Irene Nixon, Ruby Hooper, and Minta Zike.
