GUTHRIE, Donna E. (Newman)

Donna E. Guthrie, 65, of Shawnee, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at a local hospital. Donna was born Sept. 5, 1945, in Paris, Texas, to Othol Elmer and Cecelia Felista (Graf) Newman. She earned B.S. degree from USAO in Chickasha. She married Edward Wayne Guthrie July 24, 1965, in the Old Post Chapel in Ft. Sill. Ed and Donna made their home in Lawton until Ed went to Vietnam in 1965-66. Donna then moved to Chickasha to finish her education. She taught school in Chickasha for a while and moved to Shawnee in 1975. Donna is a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Donna was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Coy Ray Newman. Survived by her husband, Edward W. Guthrie, of the home; God children, David and Sherry Peck, of Moore, Steve and Mickie Townley, of Chickasha, and Rev. Kevin and Chris Price; special friend, Wanda Moss; brother, Charles E. Newman, of Sherman, Texas; sister, Mary Z. (Newman) Norris, of Hugo, Jean and Johnny LaFollett, of Fisco, Texas; nieces and nephews; and four great-great-nieces and -nephews. Service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Glen Pence officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund.
