HALL, Mary E. (Colston)
Mary Elizabeth Betty Colston Hall was the only child of Erwin and Mary Elizabeth Powell Colston. She was born August 29, 1931 in Temple, Cotton County, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Saturday evening, September 25, 2010, at the Grady Memorial Hospital, Chickasha, Oklahoma. Betty grew up on the family farm in the Pleasant Ridge Community southeast of Temple. Upon graduating from Temple High School, Betty entered Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Home Economics from OCW in 1953. She began her teaching career in the Fort Cobb Public Schools and retired from there with 24 years of teaching high school home economics. She was a member of the Ft. Cobb 1st Baptist Church. On July 24, 1954, Betty and Forrest Davis Hall were united in marriage at the family home southeast of Temple and then established their home in Fort Cobb. Betty and Forrest adopted their son, Darrell, in 1967. Forrest preceded her in death in 1978. Betty was an avid seamstress and loved her Bernina sewing machine. She enjoyed various kinds of needlework, especially crocheting afghans. She also loved cooking and gardening. For the last 8 years she made her home at the Grace Living Center in Chickasha. She loved the Lord and looked forward to receiving and listening to tapes of church services each week from the Primitive Baptist Church in Duncan. Betty is survived by her son Darrell Hall of Chickasha, and grandchildren Elisha Hall of Marlow and Derrick Hall of Waxhaw, North Carolina and several cousins. Graveside Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, October 1, at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Cobb. Viewing at Steverson Funeral Home, Fort Cobb, Wednesday from 10 AM until 5 PM, and Thursday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
