At the age of 92, Zola Marie Himmelmann of Bemus Point, N.Y., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, in Prosper, Texas. Zola was born July 19, 1916, the only child of Jessie Marie Dagle Holmes and John Oliver Holmes in Binger, Okla. Zola's husband, Clifford O. Himmelmann, preceded her death on May 1, 1977. She is survived by three children: Karen Ann Elizabeth Himmelmann Smith (husband, Charles) of Texas, Kim William Himmelmann (wife, Deborah) of Maryland, and Kathryn Lynn Ellen Himmelmann Benson of Texas. She also leaves eight grandchildren: Sarah Emily Himmelmann, Erin Elizabeth Himmelmann, Rebekah Marie Himmelmann Wychulis, Anastasia Marie Benson, Richard Leland Benson, Kristina Anne Benson, Victoria Lynn Benson, and Alissandria Blaise Benson; and three great-grandchildren: Kacen James Kenopic, Lizabella Emily Kenopic, and Audrey Marie Wychulis. In 1941 she married Clifford, dedicating her life to family and working with youth through Girl Scouting, church, and community groups. Zola shared her love of nature, birds, flowers, crafts, and tennis with youth, family, and friends. During retirement, Zola looked forward to time spent in Sarasota, Fla., enjoyed her travels, and continued learning, reading, tennis, bridge, and needlework. In 1998, Zola began her battle with breast cancer, being a true survivor. Feb. 5, 2009, an angel came to Zola giving comfort, and Feb. 7th, Zola peacefully slipped away to the Lord in her sleep. Zola will truly be missed by all who knew her.
