HORTON, Naomi H. (Haynes)
Naomi H. Horton was born on June 25th, in Oklahoma in 1916 to Vera and William Haynes. She entered into eternal life on July 28, 2011 in Bakersfield. She was the eldest of 3 daughters with younger twin sisters. All three girls attended the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, OK where Naomi received her training to be an elementary school teacher. She married Charles M. Horton and they stayed in Chickasha where, Charlsa, their only child was born. Charles's military service sent them to other locations, after which, they chose Lake Isabella/Bodfish, California as a good place to teach and make a home. Naomi was a dedicated 4th grade teacher at the Woodrow Wallace Elementary School in Lake Isabella for many years. She influenced the lives of her students and loved teaching. Charles passed away in 2002 after years of teaching agriculture at the Kern Valley High School. The Horton's were influential in the founding days of the Highland Chapel in Lake Isabella and friends there still remember them with fondness. Naomi was able to celebrate her 95th birthday just a few weeks before God called her home. Naomi leaves her daughter, Charlsa Horton Boone, husband, David Boone and two grandsons, Jonathan and Justin to remember her. A special word of appreciation to the Trinity Home, Owners, Wilma and Ernie Edra, and staff for the excellent care and love she has received there in the last four years of her life as an Alzheimer's patient. Appreciation also to the caring staff of Hoffmann Hospice for the generous, loving care they gave Naomi during the last 3 months of her life. There will be a private internment at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Join us for her memorial service on Tuesday, August 9th, at 3:30PM at Highland Chapel, United Methodist Church (5301 Lake Isabella Blvd.) in Lake Isabella, California.
