Dianne Short Heckes Hood Hunter, 64, of Norman, Oklahoma died Wednesday May 13, 2009, at home. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel. Dianne was born August 7, 1944 in Marlow, Oklahoma to Jerry and Mildred Geraldine (Henson) Short. She grew up in the Marlow, Oklahoma, Houston, Texas, and Denver, Colorado areas. She graduated from Ardmore High School in 1962, and attended the Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha. She had various occupations including working for Lone Star Oil Production Co., owning and operating the "Wax Factory" and "It's My Party" stores in Norman. She worked at the Oklahoma House of Representatives as executive assistant to Rep. Abe Deutschendorf for several years until she retired in 2005. She enjoyed playing piano, traveling, playing games and was an avid collector of many things. Dianne is survived by her son, Wade Heckes and wife, Tracy; granddaughter, Robin; grandson, Jeremy; great-granddaughter, Kaitlynn; and great-grandson, Collin all of Norman; sister Suzanne Johnston and husband, Jerry; nephew, Tony Allard and wife, Wendy all of Edmond; sister-in-law, Janeice Short; niece, Shelly Collins and husband, Floyd and niece, Sheryl McCarty all of Chickasha; uncle, Lynn Henson and wife, Leona of Tulsa; aunt Owanna Bateman of Oklahoma City; and many cousins, great nieces and nephews. Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert Short, and grandparents, M. W. and Zina Lois (Mangum) Pugh, and Ode and Ollirene (Chaffin) Short.
