JUDKINS, Kathy Elizabeth (Banks)
Kathy Elizabeth Judkins, 54, of Rush Springs died Saturday, April 23, 2011, in Oklahoma City.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, April 29, at 2 p.m. at the Rush Springs High School auditorium, with the Rev. Jason Arnold officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Kathy was born Tuesday, April 9, 1957, in Dallas, Texas, to J. C. and Bonnie Ray (Rice) Banks. She lived in the Stephens/Grady County area most of her life. She attended Chickasha High School and later earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary English, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in 1995. Kathy married Joe Judkins on July 4, 2001, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was an English teacher for the Rush Springs public schools. Kathy enjoyed gardening; if it grew up green, she loved to grow it. She loved her animals very much. She also enjoyed reading, especially works by Janet Evanovich and Louis L’Amour. Kathy was a very giving person who believed in “paying it forward.”
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Judkins, of the home; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Tandy and Mindy Banks of Marlow, Brandon and Sara Floyd of Duncan, Tell Judkins of Stillwater, Johnny Judkins of Bethany, and Joel and Tami Judkins of Tuttle; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Shayne Hulbert of Houston, Texas; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Delores Banks of Harker Heights, Texas, Louis and Heidi Banks of Oklahoma City, and Ronnie and Ellen Banks of Savannah, Ga.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Diane and Jack Troyer of Oklahoma City, and Shirley Robbins of Marlow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made in Kathy’s name to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or the humane society of the donor’s choice.
