KEPHART, Leah C. (Neugebauer)
Funeral for Leah C. Kephart, 85, Lawton, will be at 2:30 p.m. today at St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard Mayer, pastor, and Andrew Yeager, vicar, officiating. Mrs. Kephart died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, in a local hospital. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Becker Funeral Home. She was born Nov. 17, 1922, in Indiahoma , to Alexander and Rosina Nitschke Neugebauer. She married Earl Kephart in Wichita Falls, Texas, on Dec. 2, 1940. He died March 10,1960. She attended Cameron State Agricultural College and received a bachelor's degree from The Oklahoma College for Women. She received a master's degree from North Texas State University. She was employed for many years as teacher, principal and superintendent with the Medicine Park School District. She served as a volunteer for many organizations with the last one being the Food Bank. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church for more than 50 years. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Jeannie Kephart, Lawton; four grandchildren: Tammy Kephart, Piedmont; and Kimberly Mills, Earl Kephart and Amber Kephart all of Lawton; four great-grandchildren: Kendall Kephart, Kassidy Kephart, Anthony Faulkner and Triston Kephart, all of Lawton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Kephart; a brother, A.D. Neugebauer; a sister, Pauline Lewis; a grandson, Kenneth Kephart; and her parents.
