Funeral service for Percilla Lee Heisler Lamar, age 93 of Chickasha Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 in the Epworth United Methodist Church. Dr. Rockford Johnson will officiate. Percilla Lee was born the daughter of Charles A. Heisler and May Whitley Heisler on June 17, 1918 on a farm west of Chickasha. She died on Sept. 27, 2011 in Chickasha. Percilla went to grade school at Sandlin School, which was about two miles from home. For the first two or three years of school, she rode in a buggy then walked the rest of the time. Her high school days were spent at Verden School staying with her Whitley grandparents through the week and eating lunch with Grandmother Heisler across the street from the school. Percilla attended Oklahoma College For Women (USAO) for four years and graduated in May of 1940. While attending college, she belonged to Pi Zeta Kappa. She met Robert (Bob) Andrew Lamar while in high school. They were married on her college graduation on Sunday, May 26, 1940, which was her mother’s birthday. They lived in Rush Springs for three years then moved to Verden where Bob taught Vo-Ag. After four years, they moved to Chickasha where Bob was a county agent until 1978. At the age of 14, Percilla joined the Methodist Church at Verden. In 1947, Percilla became a member of the Epworth United Methodist where she was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Circle. Percilla also helped with the youth groups at the church and played the piano for the Wedding Ring Class for fifty years. She was a member of the 1938 Study Group, the Floribunda Flower Club, and the County Home Demonstration Club. Percilla enjoyed doing embroidery and quilting. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and May Heisler and her husband, Robert Andrew Lamar. Survivors include: Son & Wife: Angus Kent & Carmen Lamar, Daughter: Robin May Irving, Grandson: Robert Houston Lamar, Grandson & Wife: Angus Andrew & Kristin Lamar, Granddaughter: Karla Kay Ellis, Grandson & Wife: Mark Kipling (Kip) & Kim Irving, Great Grandchildren: Madison Elisabeth Irving, Gage Andrew Irving, and Houston Andrew Lamar. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
