Mrs. Donna Kaye (Kitchens) (Austin) Long, 78, of Norman, passed away at home Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011. Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Havenbrook Funeral Home chapel. Kaye was born in Chickasha on Oct. 17, 1933. She received a bachelors degree in education at Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha and her masters degree from OU in education administration. She spent all her working life teaching - first as the regional Girl Scouts of America director at Chickasha and then as a physical education teacher and administrator for the Norman School District until she retired in 1993. Her interests were varied and included crafts, painting, sewing and reading, but, her greatest passion was her family and its well-being. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much delight. She was the grandchildrens Granny Pooh (The one with the Pooh Dog). They were the love of her life. Those around her were well-loved and loved Kaye for her enthusiasm and her frequent and infectious laughter. She exemplified the saying Live well, laugh often and love much. She will be remembered for her love of the Lord Jesus and belief in his teachings. We will miss her greatly. She was preceded in death by one son, Randale Kent Austin; her mother, Fern Elliott Kitchens; and her father, Herbert B. Kitchens. Survivors include her husband, Robert R. Long of the home; her son, Robert K. Austin and his wife Lisa of Bethany; her stepdaughter, Dr. Stephenie R. Long and her husband Charles Jastram of Monroe, La.; her stepson, Matthew Sunday and his wife Dr. Jennifer Sunday of Norway, Maine; her dearly beloved brother, Monte Kitchens and his wife Bonnie of Albuquerque, N.M.; cousin, Karen Bullock; four grandsons, John Austin and his wife Lindsey, David Austin, Dakota and Addison Sunday; two granddaughters, Talia Teplitz and Corley Sunday; two great-granddaughters, Kyleigh and Isabella Austin; and one great grandson, Matthew Austin; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
