LOWE, Margaret (Lewis)
Margaret (Lewis) Lowe, 89, a long time resident of Bartlesville passed away September 6, 2009 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa after a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 9 at the First United Methodist Church in Bartlesville with Rev. Buz Wierick officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Friends who wish may call for visitation at Stumpff Funeral Home Tuesday evening until 9 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until 12 Noon. Margaret was born April 22, 1920 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Seth M. and Bertie (Thurber) Lewis. She grew up and attended Pawhuska schools graduating from high school in 1937. She attended Oklahoma College for Women and Oklahoma A&M College before coming to Bartlesville where she worked for Phillips Petroleum Company. She married Jo Allyn Lowe in 1947 and they made their home in Bartlesville all of their married life. He preceded her in death in 1975 and she continued to reside in Bartlesville until recently making her home in Tulsa with her son Donnie Lowe. Margaret worked for First National/Westar Bank in the Home Sales and Trust departments from 1965 to 1982. Upon her retirement she traveled extensively throughout the United States and made several trips to Europe. She attended several Elderhostel courses in the US and Canada. She was a long-time member and active contributor of First United Methodist Church in Bartlesville serving on numerous boards and committees including United Methodist Women and the Kum-Dubl Sunday school class. Margaret was an avid sports fan and regularly attended local high school athletic events well into her 80's. She especially enjoyed supporting the American Legion baseball teams and was a fixture at Doenges Injuns games for more than 40 years. She was an active member of Bartlesville Theatre Guild and Harlequins for several years and enjoyed attending many theatrical and musical productions in Bartlesville. In 1995 she was recognized by the Allied Arts and Humanities Council of Bartlesville for making significant contributions to the arts. She was a member of the Washington County Historical Society and a volunteer at the Bartlesville History Museum for several years. She is survived by four sons Rollie Lowe of Coffeyville, Kansas; Marty Lowe and wife Becky of Bartlesville; Donnie Lowe of Tulsa, and Deanie Lowe of Bartlesville. Also surviving are eight grandchildren Lari Gulley, Dr. Jason Lowe, Alison Lowe, Stacey Lowe, Sara Carreno, Tom Lowe, Kristin Lowe, and Geoff Lowe; and four great grandchildren Tag Gulley, Alexi Lowe, Christian Carreno, and Maya Carreno. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Perry Lewis of Pawhuska. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Margaret's name to the Boys and Girls Club of Bartlesville, 401 S.W. Seminole, Bartlesville, OK 74003.
