McATEE, George F. Jr.
George Fredric Maco McAtee Jr., 73, of Blountville, passed away on Friday, (May 20, 2011) in the NHC Healthcare Center in Bristol, Va. He was a native of Worcester, Mass., and a son of the late George Fredric Sr. and Laura Teresa Wilk McAtee. Mr. McAtee was a professor of Speech and Theater Arts, at ETSU, Indiana State, University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Virginia Intermont, Northeast State and King College. He was employed by Theatre Bristol for a number of years. He was a member of the Naval Reserves before and after his tenure with the U. S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Greenwell McAtee; one daughter, Amy Dawn McAtee and her mother, Genell Cradic, both of Church Hill; one sister, Dr. Carole Law Trachy and her husband, Linwood of Ocala, Fla.; two grandchildren, Dilon Gibson and Jocelyn Cradic, both of Church Hill; one great-grandchild, Aiden Cradic of Church Hill; a close friend, Beau Beaudoin of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday from the Morris Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. The Rev. Charles Roberts will officiate. Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Monte Vista Memorial Park. The family and friends will meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Josephs Indian School, Special Gifts Dept., P. O. Box 100, Chamberlain, S.Dak., 57325.
