Wylodine Owen McPeak, 92, died peacefully Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Gambrell Street Baptist Church with Chaplain Lindell Anderson officiating. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole. Pallbearers: Kenneth Barnes, Kenneth Cates, Harold Christenberry, George Thompson, Mike Webb and Irwin Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers: Wayne Evans and Johnny Hickson. Memorials: Should friends desire, contributions in her name may be given to the Building Fund at Gambrell Street Baptist Church or a charity of choice . Wylodine was born April 1, 1920, in Chickasha, Okla., where she attended public school and graduated from the Oklahoma College for Women in 1940. She taught for a brief period in Washita, Okla. With the onset of World War II, she was employed at Borden General Hospital in Chickasha, where she remained until the end of the war. She was engaged to Harold McPeak and, at the war's end, they were married. Theirs was a happy and successful marriage and had Wylodine lived until December 2012, they would have celebrated 67 years of married life. Two children were born into their home, a son and daughter. Wylodine made a Christian home for her family and they were active in church wherever they lived. Wylodine was the last survivor of her family, having been preceded in death by her parents, one brother and five sisters. Survivors: Husband, Harold; children, Dennis McPeak and his wife, Cheryl, of Benbrook and Cindy Cox and her husband, Jere, of Granbury; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
