MILLER, Carey B.
Celebration of life for Carey Brent Miller, 61, of Norman, will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Journey Church in Norman. Pastor Alan Sample will officiate. Carey was born the son of Roy Lee Miller and Wilma LaVelle Smith Miller on August 23, 1949, in Chickasha. He was taken to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 2, 2011, in Norman. Carey graduated from Chickasha High School in 1967. He married his wife of forty-one years, Margie Broaddus, in June of 1969 while attending Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts, Chickasha, where he received his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics. Carey spent four years serving our country in the United States Army during which time he graduated from Officers Candidate School and received the rank of 1st Lieutenant. After his discharge from the Army, Carey and Margie made their home in Norman. He later graduated from the University of Oklahoma in Norman with a Bachelors of Science in Geology. Carey worked as a geologist in the petroleum industry and was currently employed as an environmental scientist by C.H. Guernsey & Company. He was also a member of the Journey Church in Norman. Carey enjoyed wine tasting, collecting fossils, gourmet cooking, and was an avid reader. He also loved visiting wineries and tropical destinations. His greatest joy came from time with those he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Chad Miller. Survivors include Wife: Margie Miller of Norman; Son & Wife: Derrik & Brandy Miller of Blanchard; Grandson: Zayden Miller of Blanchard; Brother: Ron Miller of Tulsa; Brother: Brian Miller of Grove; Brother: Kevin Miller of Grove; Brother: Ken Miller of Mustang. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home, Chickasha.
