Charlene Dodge Miller passed away in her home during the early hours of Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at the age of 84. Charlene was born April 3, 1926, in Pawhuska to Charles "Vance" and Vivian Dodge. The Dodge family moved to Ponca City when Charlene was entering the ninth grade. Her father later opened Dodge Drug Store on Grand Avenue. After graduating from Ponca City High School, Charlene attended Oklahoma College for Women College in Chickasha, where she received her degree in education. She married Sidney "Jack" Estelle McMellon in 1946. Charlene worked many years for Conoco Oil Company as a secretary in the Purchasing Department. She later married Louis W. Miller and in 1970 they moved to Houston. Charlene loved music and art and was an accomplished painter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian and Vance Dodge; her sister, Jean Dodge Lacy; and daughter, Pam McMellon Brock. Charlene is survived by two daughters, Susan McMellon Matt and Sally McMellon Saner; and seven grandchildren, Angela Stell, Megan Heath-Moreno, Jerod Heath, Ross Matt, Josh Saner, Jennifer Saner and Anne Saner; and two nieces, Jan Lacy and Kate Lacy Lewis. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral home in Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a Hospice organization of the donor's choice.
