MONTGOMERY, Thomas O.

Funeral service for Thomas Orin Montgomery, age 80, of Chickasha was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 19, 2010, in the New Life Christian Church. Rev. Ezell Nelson officiated. Thomas Orin was born the son of John Everett Montgomery and Verna Opal Gourley Montgomery on September 3, 1929 in Bartlesville and died on July 15, 2010 in Chickasha. Tom served in the United States Navy for four years during the Korean War. On May 3, 1953, he married Katherine Colleen Pelham in Berkeley, California. They moved to Oklahoma in 1962 and graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1964. After graduation, Tom worked for the Fiscal Plant at Oklahoma State University as an accountant. From 1970 to 1976 he served as chief accountant for Panhandle State University. From 1976 until his retirement in 1984, Tom was chief accountant for University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. Tom was a member of the New Life Christian Church. He was also an avid fisherman who enjoyed going to the Kiamichi Mountains, Roman Nose State Park, and other favorite fishing locations. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Verna Montgomery and sister, Anita Joyce Lewis. Survivors include: wife: Colleen Montgomery of Chickasha; son & wife: John Thomas & Vicki Montgomery of Tolono, Illinois and their daughters, Morgan, Kelsey, and Shelby; daughter & husband: Laura Ruth & Ramon Gil of Lawton and their daughter, Jillian; daughter & husband: Diane Louise & Kip Cudd of Meeker and their sons, Dane, Tyson, and Rory and two great grandchildren: Troy and Tatum Interment will be in the Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kiamichi Mountains Christian Mission, 37529 Indian Trail, Honobia, Oklahoma, 74549.
