MORGAN, Judy (Mitchusson)
A memorial service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, in the USAO Alumni Chapel for Judy Beth Morgan, a 1994 graduate of the University of Science and Arts, who died Jan. 11 in Phoenix. Morgan, 55, fought a long, valiant battle with lung cancer.
The memorial service in Chickasha is sponsored by faculty members and friends in the USAO Division of Arts and Humanities, whose lives were touched by Judy’s work here.
Judy Morgan was born on July 17, 1949, to Joe and Eunice Mitchusson in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenny Paul, in 1966, her father, Joe, in 1967 and her sister-in-law, Patsy Morgan, in 2002.
Survivors include her husband, John Morgan of the home, also a USAO graduate; her mother Eunice Emmons of Norman, Okla.; daughter and son-in-law Sharla Morgan Roberson and Michael Roberson of Frisco, Texas; son and daughter-in-law Johnny and Lacy Morgan of Glencoe, Okla.; sister Bonnie Sendelbach of Norman, Okla.; brother and sister-in-law Dale and Brenda Mitchusson of Henderson, Nev.; and nieces and nephews.
After graduating suma cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in 1994, Judy entered a graduate program at Texas A&M in Commerce, Texas. In 1996, she moved to Tucson, Ariz., to study Native American Literature at the University of Arizona. In 1997 Judy was employed by the Arizona Department of Corrections Parole Division in Tucson. In 2001 she was transferred to Phoenix to become a training officer for several prisons in the Phoenix area. At the time of the onset of her illness Judy was scheduled to become head of Training and Education for the Arizona Department of Corrections.
Judy will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Judy Morgan Memorial Fund at any Banc First Bank.
