MYERS, Joseph C.
NORMAN - Joseph Charles “Joe” Myers, 53, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Chisholm Heights Baptist Church in Mustang, with interment in Independence Cemetery east of Norman. He was born April 24, 1959, in San Antonio to James E. and Elia C. (Sifuentez) Myers. His early years were spent in San Antonio, Clovis, N.M., and Noble. He was a graduate of Noble High School and had a degree in secondary education from USAO. Joe had taught and coached in several schools in Texas and Oklahoma and currently was teaching in the Oklahoma City Public School system. His love was girl’s basketball, but he had coached several other sports. He was an avid OU, Dallas Cowboys and Thunder fan. Aside from his family, his other love was his church. He was an ordained minister in the Southern Baptist denomination, where he had served as youth pastor and deacon, sang in the choir and had always been active in Sunday School and other teaching positions within the church. His membership was at Chisholm Heights Baptist Church in Mustang. Joe was preceded in death by his father, James, and his grandparents. Survivors include his wife, Nancy of the home; one son, Miles of Weatherford; one daughter, Melissa Myers of Elk City; two stepsons, Joshua and Jacob Sampson of Yukon; one precious little granddaughter, Brenley; his mother, Elia Myers of Tulsa; two brothers James Myers and wife Sharon of Edmond and Jerry Myers of Shawnee; two nieces, Lindsey and Kylie; and three nephews, Bonner, Zach and Landon. Arrangements are by McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service in Mustang.
