Graveside service for Rosemary Rayl Parmenter, 93, Lawton, will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Parmenter died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, in Snyder. Burial will be under direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Mrs. Parmenter was born Sept. 25, 1917, in Tulsa to Charles C. and Axah Blanche Kimball Rayl. After the early death of her father, she and her mother moved to Lawton to live with her grandfather, A.P. Kimball. She attended Lincoln Grade School and graduated from Lawton High School in 1934. She was the first Miss Lawton that year. She attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, where she was a member of Beta Sigma Tau Sorority. She married Arch M. Parmenter on Feb. 1, 1939. She was a member of Entre Nous, the Shakespeare Club, Junior Service League and the Rainbow Girls. She volunteered at Southwestern Hospital as a Cheery Cherries, worked at Melton’s Jewelry Store and managed the Gold Bond Stamp Store. Her nickname Stinky was affectionately replaced with Mosie. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Lynne Vernon, Snyder; a son, Brent Parmenter, Turlock, Calif.; a granddaughter, Nancy Kay Vernon, Lawton; a grandson, Christopher Parmenter; a nephew, Louis Rayl, Lawton; and a niece, Gina Fraser, Plano, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arch Parmenter, on Feb. 3, 1975; and a brother, Jack Rayl.
