Mildred Marion Phillips passed from life on earth into eternal life with her heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 11, 2011. She was born on Oct. 29, 1920, in Payne County, Okla to Meridith Merrit Mert Heister and Ora Ellen Emerson Heister. She graduated from Perkins High School in 1938. She was able to attend Oklahoma College for Women for one semester before being called home to help with a family crisis. During WWII she worked for McDonald Douglas in Tulsa. On May 11, 1946, she married Orbia Frank Phillips in Cushing and to this union one daughter, JoAnne and one son, John, were born. She worked at City Drug in Cushing and at Escotts for almost 20 years, retiring to care for Frank. After his death in 1990, Mildred was a volunteer at the Cushing Regional Hospital until her health failed in 2006. Survivors include her daughter, JoAnne Ringwald of Glencoe; her son, John Phillips of Broken Arrow; brothers, Bob and Bill Heister of Stillwater and Ed Heister of Norman; five grandchildren, Leslie Turner and Jeff Ott of Stillwater, Sara Cooper of Glencoe, Kim Clifton of Tulsa and Jeremy Phillips of Tulsa; fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank; one brother, Ray Heister and two sisters, Hazel Baker and Ellen Ballinger. Services will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011, at 2 P.M. in the Oak Grove Baptist Church with Brother Mike Murray and Brother George Brock, III officiating. Burial will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery.
