Pitts, Hazel Marie Graves HAZEL MARIE (GRAVES) PITTS Hazel was born the daughter of Lee Graves and Phenie Kennedy Graves on May 25, 1918, in Howard County, Arkansas. The family moved to Grady County when she was a small child and she spent most of her life in this area. She attended Chickasha Public Schools, OCW and USAO. She married Louis Pitts on February 26, 1939.She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company from 1936 to 1948. She was appointed Chickasha City Treasurer serving three years until her resignation to go to work for Little Nick Oil Company where she remained until her retirement in 1984.Hazel was a member of First Baptist Church and active in the Intercessory Prayer Ministry. She was a member of PEO - Chapter DV, the Chickasha Golf and Country Club and the Grady County Historical Society.Hazel joined her Lord happily and quickly on the morning of February 26, 2009, at her place of residence, La Vida Llena Retirement Community in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Hazel left a wonderful legacy of faith and friendship with her many friends and the staff at La Vida Llena. She was much loved there and her presence will be missed by many.In addition to her ""new"" friends at La Vida Llena, Hazel stayed in touch with many ""old"" friends in Chickasha, especially Polly Culp, Vera Mae Self, and Allene Jackson, speaking with them weekly. She cherished visits from Cathy and Don Simer and Betty and Dick Denton while in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, who passed away April 27, 1997. Her survivors include her son, Herb and wife Rita of Albuquerque, New Mexico, a grandson, Brett and wife Nicole, and great-granddaughter Colette, of Oakland, California; sister-in-law Billie Graves of Lancaster, CA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of friends and her loyal, long time companion, Olga Day of Cement, OK. There will be a reception to celebrate Hazel's life at the First Baptist Church in Chickasha, 324 W. Colorado, on Friday, March 27, 2:00-4:00 pm.
