POWELL, Darren L.

Funeral services for Darren Lee Powell, 46, of Chickasha will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 16, 2010, in the Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ross officiating. Darren Lee Powell was born August 23, 1963, in Guymon, Oklahoma the son of Dickey and Marie (Rosson) Powell. He died April 13, 2010, at his home in Chickasha. Darren came to Chickasha at age 5 years old. He grew up and attended Chickasha Public Schools, graduating from Chickasha High School in 1981. He then attended Southwestern State University in Weatherford and later moved back to Chickasha where he attended and graduated from USAO in 1986 with a degree in Business. He married his wife, Katrina (Hughes) Powell on January 12, 1991, in Chickasha. They were blessed with two children, Ellee and Erin. He worked for Gibsons for several years as well as Union Pacific Railroad and later Wal-Mart where he was a department manager for two and a half years. He had many hobbies and he loved woodworking, painting, doing crafts, collecting baseball cards, and was an avid fan of all OU sports. Darren was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Katrina Powell; two daughters: Ellee and Erin Powell; parents: Dickey and Marie Powell all of Chickasha; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Paige and Kevin Garrett of Blanchard, Oklahoma and Kelly and Kevin Goldston of Belton, Texas; mother-in-law, Connie Hughes, of Alex; nieces and nephews: Katelyn, Jaycee and Luke Garrett and Madison and Holden Goldston; many friends and extended family. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
