Irene Margaret Richardson, born January 29, 1936, in Soper Bluff, Oklahoma, died July 24, 2009 at the age of 73, at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A funeral mass was held at The Holy Name Of Jesus Catholic Church in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to memorialize Ms. Richardson on July 28, 2009, Father Goin officiating. Ms. Richardson was cremated, at her wish, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 29, 2009. A graveside service will be held August 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Chaplain Everett E. Stropes, Jr. and Reverend Iris G. Knight-Allen officiating. As a military wife, Ms. Richardson traveled for eighteen years with her former husband, Everett E. Stropes, Sr., before settling down in Chickasha. Ms. Richardson made Chickasha her home for the past forty years and was a graduate of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. Ms. Richardson is survived by her five children, daughter Iris G. Knight-Allen and husband Michael Allen, daughter Barbara A. Boren and husband Altus Boren, Sr., Mary L. Stropes, Everett E. Stropes, Jr., and Joseph Kevin Stropes and wife Sharon Stropes. Also surviving Ms. Richardson are her three brothers Mark Edward Richardson, Chris Richardson, James W. Richardson, and their spouses, eleven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and their families, and dearest and longest friend, Sally Ann Snodgrass. Ms. Richardson will be sincerely missed by her family and friends. Independence being her motto, she passes it and her love of learning along as her legacy.
