Smith, Jeanette Owen Jeanette Owen Smith May 18, 1922 ù June 9, 2009 Jeanette Owen Smith, 87, of Duncan, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, in her home in Duncan. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Duncan City Cemetery with the Rev. Phil Ware officiating. Interment is under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. She was born May 18, 1922, in Chickasha, to Walter Gutherie and Maud Dodds Owen. She married J. Kenneth Smith on Sept. 3, 1966, in McCloud. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 2007.She graduated from Oklahoma College for Women with a bachelor's degree in economics. Jeannette was the first female professional employee of IBM and also worked as manager of Information Technology at Halliburton Services.She was a member of First United Methodist Church.She is survived by one sister, Wylodine McPeak of Fort Worth, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.She was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters: Estelle Irwin, Mary Jo Reddell, Nell Owen and Betty Grigsby; and a brother: Verdo Owen.In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Chisholm Trail Hospice, P.O.
