Nila Lee (Anderson) Stevenson, 92, has finished her mission on Earth and retired to Heaven. Services will be announced later. Nila was born in 1919 in Ponca City to Elmer Charles Anderson and Ina Lee Huff. Finishing high school in Ponca City, she attended the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha and completed her higher education at the University of Oklahoma with a fine arts degree. At the Norman campus she was a member and captain of the Timber Cruisers, the schools equestrian team. After World War II, she married her high school boyfriend, OU football player and returning serviceman, Col. Ralph Stevenson Sr. She had a great fondness for the arts and continued painting and constructing art until her husband died 23 years ago. She has ribbons and awards ranging from rug making, flower arranging, and horse and dog showing in New Mexico, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Oklahoma. She was a fine officers wife, great parent and grandmother and proud Sooner. She was a member of the Christian Science Church and lifetime member of the OU Alumni Association. Family members would like share her partiality for art and ask that friends and readers contribute to any local art programs for children. Nila was the mother of the late Craig Stevenson. She is survived by the oldest son, Ralph Jr.; grandson, Dylan Oaks; great-granddaughter, Emily; sister-in-law Maxine Raulerson of Georgia; and many cousins.
