HELEN GLICK THOMPSON passed peacefully from her earthly home in Brenham, TX to her heavenly home on October 6, 2008. In her last days, she was surrounded and cared for by her family. She was born October 28, 1930 in Houston, Texas. Helen was preceded in death by her son, Barney Charles Davis Jr.; parents, Silas and Lola Glick; and sister Fay Alyne Kelley. Helen graduated from Lamar High School in 1948 where she lettered in volleyball. She went on to attend the Oklahoma College for Women. While a student at Oklahoma College, she was a member of the synchronized swimming team and was voted Aquatic Queen. She was also the Sigma Delta beauty queen. While in school, Helen played volleyball, field hockey, golf, and tennis. After college, Helen was employed in Houston by SunEx, Transco and Wesley West. She loved to garden, read, play Bridge, and dance. She was happiest spending time with her many friends and family and sharing her faith in God. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Gene Thompson, daughters, Rae Davis Merritt, Cindy Davis Cole and husband Mark, Lisa Davis Bridges and husband Gary, Grandchildren, Charles Merritt, Jeff Cole, Andrew Cole, Todd Bridges, Blake Bridges, Matthew Bridges, great granddaughter Charlie Sue Merritt, sister Betty Bryan and brother-in-law Guy Bryan, sister-in-law Charlotte Schramm. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 9th at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. The funeral service will be held on October 10th at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery Chapel at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Dallas Theological Seminary or the American Cancer Society.
