VRSKA, Leota (Rankin)

Leota (Rankin) Vrska was born Sept 30, 1924 in Frederick, OK to Ray and Lula (Henderson) Rankin and passed away after a lengthy illness on Sept 18, 2011. She and her family moved to Elk City when she was a child, and she graduated from Elk City High School as valedictorian in 1941. She received a bachelor's degree in music from Oklahoma College for Women in 1946. She was an accomplished violin and piano player for most of her life. She married John Benton Saunders in 1946, and together they had two children. In 1967, she married Richard Vrska. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; and son, Paul. She is survived by her son, Mark & wife Shannon; stepson, Randy & wife Jeanette; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. Visitation will be 9am to 8pm, Wednesday, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2pm, Thursday, Sept 22, 2011, at St. Luke's UMC in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Gregory's University General Scholarship Fund.
