ZACHARY, Mildred (Campbell)
Mildred "Mickey" (Campbell) Zachary, age 103, passed from this life on March 27, 2010 in Yukon, OK. Mickey was born on March 21, 1907 to Erick and Jennie Campbell. She grew up in the Pryor, Oklahoma, area and attended college at Oklahoma College for Women and Oklahoma State University. She began teaching school in Ocheleta, where she met fellow teacher, Leroy H. "Hal" Zachary. They were married on June 1, 1929 in Stillwater, OK. Mickey and Hal made their home in Cement and raised two sons, Dan and Ted. Mickey taught school for 35 years at Cement and Lawton Public Schools. She and Hal retired from teaching in the early-70's and loved to travel, farm, garden, watch baseball games and tell stories. Mickey loved to bake homemade bread and was famous for her delicious divinity. She was a member of the Cement Garden Club for many years and was also an active participant in the Retired Teachers' Association. Mickey enjoyed telling stories and jokes and was a dear friend to all who knew her. Mickey and Hal were married for 78 years when he preceded her in death in 2007 at the age of 100. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dan Zachary; and grandson, Danny Zachary. She is survived by son, Ted, and his wife, Sherry Zachary, of Yukon; sister, Jane Beetle of Wagoner; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at the Cement First United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010. Burial will be at the Cement Cemetery.
