SCHAFER, Eloise L. (Penoi)

Eloise Lucia Penoi Schafer, age 94, a 66 year resident of Needles, Calif., passed away quickly Sunday, May 25, 2008, in Bullhead City. Mrs. Schafer was born Dec. 30, 1913, near Anadarko, Okla. to Mark Penoi (a Pueblo Indian from Laguna) and Eloise Butler Reese Penoi (a Cherokee of the Aniwodi Paint Clan). Upon graduation from Oklahoma College for Women, Mrs. Schafer taught several years at Albuquerque Indian School. After her marriage in 1938 to George Schafer, she devoted herself to raising her family and actively supporting the Needles community.

ROBSON, Elma (Iles)

Elma Iles Robson, Ponca City resident, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at her home. She was 91. Elma Robson was born July 13, 1918, in Prague, the daughter of Frank and Nettie Hull Iles. She attended schools in Prague and graduated from Prague High School. Her parents and grandparents were pioneer Oklahomans. Her grandfather, Harry C. Iles, was a physician who came to Oklahoma from Kansas. Her grandparents who encouraged her in her love of music raised Elma. At age 15 Elma played the piano for silent movies at the Prague Theater.

McDANIEL, Ella M. (Martin)

Ella Minnie McDaniel, 90, died Thursday, March 8, 2007 in Sayre. Services will be Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Granite United Methodist Church. Rev. Jim Hilton and Rev. Wendell Harris will officiate. Burial will be at the Brinkman Cemetery under the direction of PeopleÆs Co-operative Funeral Home.

COATES, Ella L.

Funeral services for Ella Lahoma Coates, 64, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at First Baptist East with Pastor Danny El Kouri of Word Alive Church, Lawton, Pastor Nick Lovenburg, of Freedom Church, Lawton and Pastor Randy Sullivan, Duncan officiating. Mrs. Coates died Tuesday at her home after a short courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved ones. Burial will be in the Duncan City Cemetery, under direction of Becker Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. She was born Sept.

MARETT, Elizabeth (Guest)

ELIZABETH G. MARETT, LIZ 98, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 26, 2008. Liz was born on March 19, 1910 in Warren, Arkansas, to Roy and Beatrice Guest. The second of five children, she grew up in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma, helping her parents in their clothing stores. She attended Business College and Oklahoma College for Women before moving to Houston where she started her career with Anderson Clayton & Co. Liz loved life. She loved raising her boys, her family life, and people.

NELSON, Elizabeth A. (Maricle)

Funeral service for Elizabeth Ann Nelson, 62, of Chickasha, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, in the New Life Christian Church. The Rev. Ezell Nelson will officiate. Ann was born the daughter of Harry Maricle and Dorothy Jones Maricle on July 17, 1947, in Tulsa. She died on Dec. 29, 2009, in Oklahoma City due to a seven-month battle with complications from diabetes. Ann graduated from Chickasha High School in 1965 and later graduated from OCLA, now USAO. She taught school at the Intermediate School and at Friend School.

GRAGG, Elenore E. (McNeese)

Gragg, Elenore Elizabeth McNeese Elenore Elizabeth McNeese Gragg was born November 26, 1915 in Oklahoma City, OK, the daughter of James A. and Louise Harbaugh McNeese. She died July 26, 2007 at Oklahoma Methodist Manor in Tulsa at the age of 91. Elizabeth attended Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha. She was a graduate of Oklahoma City University with a BA degree and received a lifetime Oklahoma Teachers Certificate issued in 1942. After two years as a kindergarten teacher in the Tulsa Public Schools, she married Owen Gragg and became a homemaker.

GREEN, Elaine L. (Kidd)

Green, Elaine Louise Memorial service for Elaine Louise Green will be 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 16, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Deborah Meinke officiating. Visitation will be at Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service and Crematory, Claremore, Thursday 1-8 p.m. Elaine died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 69.The daughter of Vernon Noble and Vallee Melvina (Lefever) Kidd was born May 19, 1940, in Washington, D.C.

MEYER, Elaine K. (Nesbitt)

Elaine Kathleen Nesbitt Meyer, 79, of Muskogee, passed way Monday, September 21, 2009 in Tulsa. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on April 8, 1930, to Charles Hubert Nesbitt and Carmelita Baze Nesbitt. Both of her parents predeceased her. She had one brother, James B. Nesbitt, who also predeceased her, leaving his ex-wife Lillian Nesbitt, daughter, Beth Head, and grandson, Kenneth Alan Head surviving her. After graduation from Classen High School in Oklahoma City, she enrolled at Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha, Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Langford, Edna CALHOUN: Edna Langford, part of Carters' extended family By JENNIFER BRETT Edna Langford's interest in politics took her from volunteering on campaigns to nights in the White House and travel on official diplomatic trips. Her most notable political alliance was her close relationship with President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter. Mrs. Langford's daughter Judy was married for years to the Carters' son Jack, and Mrs. Langford remained friends with the Carters throughout her life. "She was very political.
