REDMOND, Alta M. (Kizziar)

Alta Marie Redmond was born on June 2, 1926 in Kingston, OK to Charles and Callie Kizziar. She was the 6th of seven children and the last of her generation, passing on July 16, 2012.

She grew up on a farm near Madill and graduated from Madill High School with honors.

She attended Oklahoma College for Women before marrying Robert F. Redmond. Alta Marie was an officer in the PTA at Eugene Field Elementary as well as a Brownie Scout Leader.

She volunteered and worked tirelessly for United Cerebral Palsy and was a member of the Governors' Committee on Disabilities. Alta Marie was known for her love of life, willingness to work for what she believed in, and her antics.

Once a friend always a friend was how she lived. She loved art, music and fine jewelry.

She is survived by her children Christine Redmond Crouch, Charles Franklin Redmond, John Robert Redmond, and Susan Redmond; grandchildren Sandra Crouch Halcott, Ed Redmond, Jim Redmond, Robert Redmond, Dan Redmond, and Robert Crouch; great grandchildren Ellie Redmond and Griffin Halcott; and many nieces and nephews.

We will all miss Momma Alta. Visitation will be Thursday July 19, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Smith and Kernke on 23rd.

The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday also at the funeral home.

Memorial are asked to be directed to the American Cancer Society.
