Juanita V. Tarpley, 92, died Dec. 31, 2004, at Garden Valley Retirement Village, Garden City, Kan.

She was born June 18, 1912, at Tabler, Okla., the daughter of Sterling M. and Winnie Pearl Key Tarpley.

She graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in 1934 and taught school in Anadarko, Okla.

A resident of Garden City since 1965, she was a schoolteacher. She was of the Methodist faith.

She belonged to the Kansas Retired Teachers Association, AARP, Community Concert Association and Friends of the Zoo. Survivors include: two brothers, Raymond, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sterling M., Golden, Colo. and a sister, Addie Lee Colclasure, Rogers, Ark. She was preceded in death by a brother, Elbert M. and a sister, Eulalia I. Tarpley.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Price and Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Robert Cousins presiding.

An additional funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smith-Hackney Funeral Home, Anadarko, with the Rev. Chuck Gilbert presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Price and Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Smith-Hackney Funeral Home, Anadarko. Interment will be in Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko. Memorials may be sent to the Juanita Tarpley Memorial Fund, in care of Price and Sons Funeral Home, 620 North Main, Garden City, KS 67846.
