TAYLOR, Nancy (Wade)

Nancy Wade Taylor, 88, of Houston, TX passed away on May 29, 2011 after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her son, James Wade Taylor and wife Betty, daughter Adele Taylor Spalding and husband Andrew, all of Houston, and daughter Karen Taylor and husband Balint Szent-Miklosy of New York, New York. She is also survived by grandchildren: Amy Spalding Urquhart and husband Robert, Adam Freeman Spalding, Audrey Wade Spalding, Abigail Maitland Spalding, Paul Szent-Miklosy, and William Szent-Miklosy.
 

Nancy attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, Lanier Junior High School, San Jacinto High School and graduated with the second graduating class of Mirabeau B. Lamar High School in 1939. She also graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in 1943.
 

Nancy was a Bayou Bend docent for over 20 years and was a regular volunteer for the Blue Bird Clinic for Pediatric Neurology at Texas Children's Hospital for many years. She was recognized as a 50-year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and in recent years was a member of the Late Bloomers Garden Club. Nancy was a longtime member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and served on the wedding guild. Until her illness, Nancy was a member of the River Oaks Country Club.


The family would like to thank Mirna Ledezma, Mirta Ortiz, Latosia Seriale, and Bendu Johnson for their loving care and devotion to Nancy for the past two years. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from half past four until seven o'clock in the evening at 5620 Holly Springs Drive, Houston, Texas, 77056. A private memorial service will be held later for the family. For those desiring, contributions may be made to The Blue Bird Clinic, MD Anderson Hospital, or St. Luke's United Methodist Church in memory of Nancy Wade Taylor.
