WILKS, Irma (Remple)

Tuesday, March 15, 2005

Irma Remple Wilks of Oklahoma City was born July 25, 1909, and died March 15, 2005.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Gordon Wilks, and is survived by her loving son, Norman G. Wilks, of the home. Her parents were Jake and Inie Remple of Gotebo.

Mrs. Wilks attended the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha and the University of Oklahoma.

A celebration of her life is planned at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2005 at the Hahn-Cook/ Street & Draper Chapel. A feisty lady with a great sense of humor, Mrs. Wilks enjoyed cooking and entertaining, hobbies that she shared with her son. They often entertained, serving food with southwestern flavorings. Her favorite vacation spot was Santa Fe where she enjoyed the atmosphere and the fine restaurants. Mrs. Wilks was an expert at needlepoint and her pillows not only decorate her home but are prized by her friends to whom she gave them. Many of her pillows reflect her love of the southwest, with symbols of Native Americans, pottery and flowers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Florence Birdwell Vocal Scholarship Endowment at Oklahoma City University or charity of choice.
