About the Campus Garden: mission, location, produce, how to get involved, contact, press, FAQs
-
The USAO Campus Garden is a multi-purpose facility realized through a collaboration between Chickasha public schools, local businesses, and the university service-learning / civic engagement (SLCE) program, USAO student and staff volunteers, and members of the Chickasha community.

2009 Summer Season: The campus is always quiet in the summer, so it was no surprise that participation by USAO decreased. The plants, however, did not seem to mind! Check out the Summer 2009 photo album.

2009 Spring Season: With "seed" funds in hand, we began to convert an old greenhouse north of campus into a working garden. As you can see in the Spring 2009 photo album, we had our work cut out for us. We kicked off our first growing season with the help of about 60 fourth-graders from Lincoln Elementary School in the Botany Buddies program

2008 Fall Season: We began to raise funds for a Campus Garden project in the fall of 2008. The idea was originally developed in a service-learning project that summer. Our "seed" money was granted by USAO Student Association, who allotted our full request of $1,200 for Phase I of the project.
We decided to work with the kids from Lincoln because they are usually the last on the list when programs and volunteer opportunities come along. These are the kids who get the least attention, so we thought we would start there.
