CHICKASHA – Despite two home runs, the Drovers struggled in the first game of the conference series against Oklahoma Baptist, but they still have a chance to win the series during the doubleheader Saturday.
Both Luke Krobath and Cody Bridgman hit home runs against the Bison on Thursday afternoon but the Bison still prevailed with a final of 16-8.
Bridgman, a junior from Bow, Wash., hit his off the scoreboard in the ninth inning, bringing Newt Compton in along with him. Bridgman had two hits and scored three runs in the Drover loss.
Compton had two runs in the game, and shortstop Regulo Moy had three RBIs.
Nate Hammons started out on the mound and threw five strikeouts. Garan Qualls replaced him in the sixth and Tyler Porter closed the game.
The Drovers fall to 26-17 overall and 11-14 in the conference. They finish the series on Saturday for a doubleheader in Shawnee. Their last home game — Senior Day — will be May 8 against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
