CHICKASHA – Game two against Friends University was all about the Drovers as they scored five runs on Saturday afternoon for the 5-1 victory.
The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (3-2) faced the Falcons (4-1) in a nine-inning game on Friday afternoon and split 1-1 on the series.
The game started off on a positive note for the Drovers. In the second inning, Spenser Mailman scored off a single by Ryan Wescott.
But it was the next inning when the Drovers exploded. Eddie Malone doubled up the center, advancing to third on the next play. He scored on a single by catcher Owen Adams.
Rafael Pena then hit a home run out to left field, sending home Hayden George, who was courtesy running for Adams.
Mailman’s following single led to him scoring later in the same inning off a wild pitch. With those four runs, USAO went into the fourth inning with a 5-0 lead.
The Falcons scored in the sixth inning off a double down the left line for their only run of the game.
Chris Fischer spent six innings on the mound for the Drovers and threw 10 strikeouts while allowing one earned run and three hits.
Isaac Rodriguez pitched the final inning, striking out his first batter. He faced just three batters to clean up the game.
The Drovers turn around to play Benedictine College on Sunday afternoon in a doubleheader set for 12:30 p.m. at Bill Smith Ballpark.
