CHICKASHA – The Drovers defeated Bethany College twice in USAO’s home opening series on Monday afternoon.
The Swedes were no match for the strong Drover hitters. In two games, the Drovers outhit Bethany College 21-8.
In the first game, third baseman Cody Bridgman went 3-for-3 and batted two runners in. He also scored one of USAO’s five runs in that game.
Newcomer Brandon Jewett had two hits with one RBI and scored a run also in the first game.
The Drovers won 5-2. Also scoring for USAO was Andrew Reyes, Conner Bridgman and Garan Qualls.
Junior pitcher Andy Greenslitt spent the first five innings on the mound. He didn’t give up a single run. Bethany scored two runs in the seventh inning on fielding errors.
But the Drovers didn’t let up and ended the second game thanks to the mercy rule after only five innings. The Drovers overtook the Swedes 11-0.
Junior Romus Cezar, USAO’s starting centerfielder, went 3-for-3 and scored three runs for USAO. He also had two RBI.
Conner Bridgman, who also had three hits, had three RBI and scored a run for the Drovers.
Senior shortstop Regulo Moy scored two runs for USAO. Also scoring were Jake Dunbar, Nolan Crowdus, Cody Bridgman, Robert Summers and Qualls.
On the mound for the Drovers was senior Caleb Martin, who gave up only two hits in his four innings.
The Drovers are 4-1 overall. They have another home doubleheader on Wednesday against Friends University. The first pitch is at 1 p.m.
