CHICKASHA – The Drovers continued their winning streak with two wins over Friends University on Wednesday afternoon at Bill Smith Ballpark.
In the first game, the Drovers quickly fell behind after giving up two runs in the first inning. It wasn’t until the bottom of the second inning when the Drovers hit their stride and pulled in their first three runs.
Garan Qualls homered in the fourth inning, pulling in three RBI bring the game to a 8-2 USAO lead. After a couple more runs, the Drovers defeated Friends University 11-3.
Qualls went 2-for-3, scoring two runs and batting three runners in. Left-fielder Jake Dunbar scored three runs and also had an RBI in the game.
Tyler Porter got the win after spending four innings on the mound. He threw three strikeouts on Wednesday.
The Drovers started strong in the second game, scoring four runs in the first inning and three in the second.
In the first inning, Senior Cody Bridgman knocked one out of the ballpark for two runs right after Romus Cezar and Andrew Reyes had already crossed the plate.
Both Conner Bridgman and Brandon Jewett hit home runs in the second, bringing in three more runs.
The Drover struggled defensively in three mid-game innings and ended the game with a solid 12-7 victory.
Conner Bridgman, senior right-fielder, scored two runs and had three RBI in the game. Reyes and Vince Linke both went 2-for-2 with two runs. Reyes also batted a runner in.
Qualls pitched more than three innings and earned the win in the game after throwing three strikeouts.
The Drovers are on a five-game winning streak and are 6-1 overall. They play Mount Mercy College at 2 p.m. Friday at Bill Smith Ballpark and finish the series with a doubleheader Saturday afternoon beginning at noon.
