Verden athlete signs as Drover pitcher

CHICKASHA – You may see a few new guys on the mound for the Drovers of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma next season as Coach Mike Ross works to recruit more pitchers for the team.

And his newest signee is recent Verden graduate Colton Henricks.

Henricks signed with the Drovers on Thursday afternoon as a right-handed pitcher.

His senior year in high school, Henricks was named the Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-Conference team. He helped his team become regional champions in 2007 and 2009 and play in the state tournament in 2008.

Henricks threw 81 strikeouts his final season at Verden. He had an earned run average of 4.99.

He plans to major in computer science at USAO. He decided to attend USAO to balance baseball and a good education.

He is the son of Tim and Kari Henricks, of Verden.
