CHICKASHA – The Drovers put up four solid runs were in Thursday afternoon’s Senior Day game, but it proved not enough to top the No. 8 Oklahoma Baptist Bison.

The Drovers struggled to find rhythm in the first half of the game, giving up five quick runs. It wasn’t until the bottom of the sixth when the Drovers got on the board.

CHICKASHA – The Drovers blew past Hillsdale College on Thursday afternoon, securing the 11-6 victory at Bill Smith Ballpark.

Blake Pruett, who was the starting right fielder on Thursday, went 3-for-4, scored two runs and batted a runner in. Left fielder Brian Vigo went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs.

Nolan Crowdus also scored two runs as a pinch runner for catcher Owen Adams, who went 2-for-3 on the afternoon....

“The last few series we’ve really done a lot better,” said senior Brandon Jewett. “It’s a slow start. Not really the start we wanted, but we’re coming around as a team and together. We’re planning on having a good tournament.”

CHICKASHA – USAO Athletics and Colleges Against Cancer chapter will host their final Pink Out Cancer games of the 2011-12 season as both the baseball and softball teams go pink this April.

CHICKASHA – The Drovers overcame Mid-America Christian University on Friday afternoon thanks to a strong eighth inning by the Drovers.

The Drovers were up 1-0 to the Evangels going into the eighth inning. USAO’s first run was scored in the bottom of the fifth when Konrad Mueller came home from third on a throwing error by the MACU catcher.

CHICKASHA – The Drovers couldn’t overcome the Rangers in the nine-inning game on Thursday afternoon and sit at 1-1 against Northwestern Oklahoma State this season.

CHICKASHA – Scoring five runs and batting seven runners in during a three-game series this week earned Jared Coon his second Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor.

Against Oklahoma Christian last week, Coon batted 0.667. He had eight hits, including a home run and two doubles.

CHICKASHA – Now already halfway through the baseball season, the Drovers have faced some tough Sooner Athletic Conference opponents, but catcher Blake Taylor isn’t worried about the next four weeks.

“It’s just time to start playing ball and winning games like we know how we can do,” Taylor said. “The tougher of our schedule is behind us so we’re looking forward to the rest of the season and winning some games.”
